I ran track and cross country  in high school. In 2016 I finished off my high school career running my first marathon, the Utah Valley Marathon. Sense then I've ran a few half marathons but haven't been running consistently. This summer I'm hoping to get back into running and PR at the St George Marathon this fall.

Got to the race and it was pretty cold. By the time the race started it had warmed up a little. I did about a mile warm up around the park and stretches before the race. I got a good start and ran the first mile with Clare Mantz. When I looked at my watch after the first mile I realized we were going slower than I wan't to.  So I picked it up a little on the second mile and still stayed with Clare. The third mile I was just worried about my time so I pretty much sprinted the last mile and crossed the line at about 22 minutes. It was slower than I wanted but the race was still super fun and I got first in my division. My calves really hurt at the end. I think it's because I've been doing a lot of hills this week and harder workouts. When I got home my calves were still hurting so I went on a short 8 mile bike ride.

You too. Nice job on the run today.

I still felt sore today so I decided not to run. Instead I went on a bike ride with my dad to Mt. Sterling. We covered about 31 miles. It was really pretty  and I felt good at the end.

We started training as a team for Footlocker today. I'm not going to Footlocker but coach said I should train with the kids who are. We went up to the Deer Fence for our workout. Luis, Mark, Sylvan, JD, and Thomas were there. The trail is 6 miles but really hilly and we were going tempo pace, about 7 minute miles. I was able to keep up on all but one hill. It was a tough, but I'm glad were doing group workouts again.

Easy recovery run. Grace stayed after school and ran it with me. We started with a core workout. Then we did a couple 200's and a 2 mile easy run. We cooled down with a 800 and some RaceRX excercises.

Today was really cold and it was snowing on and off. I met Jessi at Utah State to do a track workout. Neither of us were feeling very good and the cold was hard. We did two 1,000's T pace. Then two 800's I pace and four 200's R pace. My muscles felt really tight, so when I got home I did a stretching workout. After I felt a lot better. We get to start hills again on Monday.

We did a hill workout at Old Main today. I ran from Logan High to Old main at  tempo pace for a warmup. Then I did 5 R-pace sprints up the Old Main bike trail. The first and second sprints felt good, and most of the team hadn't shown up yet. I hit my goal at about 1:50. The third and forth sprints I felt horrible. The cold was really hurting me at my 4th sprint and I was breathing really hard. So for the fifth sprint I didn't go all the way. After the hill workout I ran back to the school with the team.

I talked to my coaches today. They said I should probably take a rest for about two weeks before indoor track starts. So I'm not running today or tomorrow. I might do an easy run on Saturday. I'm a little sad about not being able to train with the team anymore, but my cross country season is over so it feels good to take it easy.

I biked up to Green Canyon. Then went on a run. When I started running I didn't feel very good. Sense I had done a lot of mileage yesterday I decided not to push it. So I got back on my bike and rode out to Skyview and back. On the way back I went a lot faster because it was getting dark. But the weather was great and the ride was really pretty.

I took yesterday off because I'm  supposed to be resting for indoor track. I haven't taken as many days off as I probably should. I'm so used to running every day that when I don't it feels weird. Today I did 4 miles t-pace.  I had to pick something up from the store and I hadn't done my run yet. So I ran to the store and back but running with a bag is really awkward. I ended up running at t-pace because it was getting dark.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My whole family signed up for the Hurricane Hustle that raises money for Hurricane Sandy victims. It was a little cold when we first got there. I ran a mile warmup and did some stretches. I really wanted to push myself on this race and try to get my time in the 21's. I got a good start. I was close behind the main pack.  I felt really good during the race. But I didn't see the mile markers so I couldn't time myself really well. I kept a good pace though and made a  goal  to be the first female. I finished with a 22:30 which was disappointing but I was the first female finisher. Later Luis told me the course was longer so that's why the times weren't as good. After I ran the one mile with my little sister as a cool down. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Vicki--We don't know each other, but if I may make a comment or two. First--nicely done! I ran the race as well, and Luis is correct--the course is long (it was closer to 3.22 miles). And, you ran faster than a 7:30 pace. I was actually following you the last 2 miles, and my watch indicated a 6:59 pace for me. If it was an actual 5K, your time would be closer to 21:35 (+/-). So, you really did get your 5K time in the 21's.

Hey, thanks. I had a hard time measuring the distance. But it's encouraging to know that I was actually running close to the time I wanted. And Nice job, to you too.

I decided to do one of the workouts our coach is having the kids going to Footlocker do. I did a 800 warmup. Then five 400's Rpace, average about 1:10-1:15.That was the workout  for Footlocker. But I really wanted to get some distance in. So I ran 4 miles             t-pace. When I got back Jerrell had started the workout on the track. So I did a cool down and a couple 200's on the track. Footlocker is on Saturday, I'm excited for all the kids going!

Today was the first day of indoor track. We just ran 3 miles down to the golf course. We were going really slow because for some people it was their first time running. I really wanted to do some fast running. So when we got back I did a 400 and 200 with Mark and Johnny.

Coach Bates ran with us today. We ran 10 minutes easy then 10 minutes t-pace. After that we ran  e-pace back to the school, on the way Bates had us do 3 wind sprints. I still felt like I wanted to do some more. So I did a 800. Bates called me over and he had me do a 100, 200, and 400 r-pace. The only one I timed was the 400 which was 1:16.  After that I did a 400 cool down and rode my bike home.

We didn't have school today but some kids were still meeting for indoor track. I went, but there were no distance runners there. So I did the sprinters workout. We did a mile warm up with stretching. For the workout we did 30 seconds t-pace then squats for 30 seconds, run again, jumping lunges, run, burpies. We did that 3 times. After we did a pretty hard core workout. It was nice to work on other things besides just long distance.

Super fun run today. We ran up to Old Main. When we got up there we found a snow igloo someone  had built, and Jessi and I borrowed someones sled and took a run down Old Main.  On our way back we found a cool tee pee and saw Jerrell. It was snowing most of the time I was running so the roads were slick, making it hard to go fast. Wasn't one of my favorite runs. Later I went snowshoeing with Grace and Luke. On the way back  I had to run because they were on skiis. It was still really fun.
