I ran track and cross country  in high school. In 2016 I finished off my high school career running my first marathon, the Utah Valley Marathon. Sense then I've ran a few half marathons but haven't been running consistently. This summer I'm hoping to get back into running and PR at the St George Marathon this fall.

I hurt my knee skiing so I decided not to risk and not run.

I was afraid it was going to be really cold today but it ended up not being to bad. My knee wasn't hurting while I was running but after it started hurting. I ran some steep hills so that might have been the reason it was hurting again.

Really hard workout today, it was 1min e-pace then 1 min t-pace up to 5 minutes and back down again. Throw in  the cold and some hills and it was hard. Felt good when I was done but really tired. My knee was still hurting after so I don't think I'll run over the weekend just to make sure its okay.

We ran a mile warmup then 8 twenty second sprints. After we did  core and I ran 3 miles with Johnny and Thomas. The air was still pretty bad.

We couldn't run outside again. Our coach said it's similar to if you were running while smocking. So we did a twenty minute warmup on the treadmill then 5, 5 minute t-pace with one minute rests in between. The first 5 minutes I wasn't going really fast. The second five minutes were faster and I kept it at that pace for the third one too. The forth had increased incline and the fifth was a lot faster and I was working on form.  After I did  core. On Saturday is my first track meet. The only thing I know I'm running is the 800 relay.

You should do the 2 mile. It's better suited for people with higher mileage and I think you'll do great in it.

It was really cold today, probably around 0 for most of our run. I ran up to Old Main with Luis, Thomas, and Johnny.  We were going pretty fast  for most of the run and sped up even more at the end. I think everyone was really cold and just wanted to get back to the school. My knee is feeling better. I was a little worried about it on the way back because it started hurting but that went away.

Mark and I were the only distance runners at practice today. First I did some Race RX stuff. Then a half mile warmup on the treadmill, followed by 3 ten minute t-pace with 2 minute rests inbetween.That was pretty hard. After we did some core with the sprinters. I was really tired after but it felt good. Ready for a three day weekend.

I got sick over the weekend so I could't run. Today I was feeling better so I did 20 minute warmup then 45 minutes t-pace and 5 minutes cool down. It was nice today, the air wasn't very good but it wasn't as cold.

We did a timed mile at school today. I got a 6:25 which is okay. I haven't timed a mile in a long time my last timed mile was 7 minutes. After I did 20 e-pace but my right leg was hurting a lot so I cut it short.

The air was so bad today you don't even want to walk outside. So we did some stair trainers and a whole ton of pushups. We also did some laps around the track and 5 minutes on the treadmill. It was nice to at least do something when the weather is so bad.

I live in a valley and the inversion is really bad in the winter. Apparently our air is the worst in the nation in the winter.

Really easy today which is good because I'm still not feeling very good. We ran really slow down to McDonalds and through their drive-through. Then just back to the school. Every five minutes or so we did some strides. It was a nice, easy run which was just what I needed.

We switched with the sprinters today so the sprinters had to to do the distance workout and vice versa. Our workout was pretty hard but we didn't get to run outside. After I went out for about 6 miles with Johnny  and Mark. It was really nice, the weather is above freezing.

we ran up to second dam. It was a little bit faster than my normal e-pace somewhere between e and t-pace. The snow and ice made it a little tricky coming back down. I felt good and it was nice to do some higher mileage.

I was the guinea pig for one of my coaches speed workouts. I did 5 minutes e-pace than 5 t-pace. After I was supposed to do 8 twenty second all out sprints with five second rests in between. I ended up doing ten because my first couple of sprints were slower and I wasn't feeling very tired at number 8. After 5 minutes cool down. It was more fun then I thought it would be. I don't really like speed workouts but this one was good.

My shins had been hurting all day, but I decided to still go to track practice. We did a mile warmup then 2 600's R-pace, 4 400's r-pace, then some 300's and 200's all with a 1-1 rest. I only got through one 300 before I could barely walk from shin splints. My coach said to take the weekend off. I think I'm taking monday off too.

Biked to Sky View, about 13 miles. On the way there, there was a strong headwind and the going was slow. But on the way back it was really fast. It was good to be on the bike again and doing a little bit longer rides.

We had our first meet today. We were just running against other people on the team to see where people were. I was really hoping to get under 6 on the mile, so it was a little disappointing to come in with a 6:01. I also ran the 400 and did  better than I thought I would (1:13). I don't really like the 400. It was a fun race and it was cool to see where everyone was at.

Our Cross Country team helped out with the  Logan Fun Run and Biathalon. It was really fun and the farthest I've ran in a long time. The kids we ran with were  funny, most of them would sprint and then walk and then sprint past their classmates and walk again. It took quite a bit of encouraging to keep them running. They all did an awesome job and it felt like a good start to the Cross Country season.

I ran from the base of cliffside up to the  Deer Fence. After the Fun Run last week I pulled what I think is the tendon of my hamstring. Anyway I didn't want to hurt it anymore with Cross Country starting up. I whant to run more consistantly next week and maybe do a 5K.

I ran 2.5 miles to the Farmer's Market and back. My legs hurt a lot though I'm going to just take it day by day to see if I can run. But between achilles, hamstring and calf pain I don't think I want to risk it.

I'm getting really excited for Cross Country. Today I felt a lot better and was able to run for 40 minutes. I ran by the university and there was a really stron head wind which made me go a lot slower. I think I'm going to try and work on my form this summer so I don't get as many injuries.

I got to the race and I thought it started at 8:30 but it really started at 9:30 so there was a lot of waiting around. There wasn't a whole lot of people and my main competition was Sydney Bails. She  was from Idaho and runs Cross Country. The start was really fast and there was people who were in the bathroom or just registering that missed it. The first half mile I was running behind Sergio then Luis showed up after we past the .5 mark. At the first mile we were joined by anotheer guy and  Sydney. My first mile pace was 6:37. I led for a little bit in the second mile and by the third mile I had lost some steam and was third. I came in first for women and Luis won the men's. After they had some really cool prizes I probably came back with over $100 in prizes. It was really fun and I'm glad I did it and everyone enjoy free fishing day in Idaho and Utah!

Today I ran my first half marathon, the Health City Half in Smithfield. We got there late and missed the start by two minutes, but they let me time the race on my watch. I started fairly fast because I wanted to catch up with everyone. I started passing people from the start and continued passing people until the finish. Around mile 5 I probably started slowing down because of the incline. At mile 9  I started a push  until mile 11, that's when I started hurting and the last two miles were tough. Overall it was really fun and I got the time I wanted.

I ran to Willow Park and home from my friends house it was really hot though. On Monday I'm going to Cross Country camp so I might not write for a while.

5 easy miles at Cross Country practice then 8 at Cross Country Camp. The run at camp was harder because it was in the heat of the day and we got water on the run which gave me a side ache.

We started the day by racing a mile which was really fun because the course was downhill. I got a 5:46 which was close to a PR. Later we did intervals at a park they were tough but I was the fastest in my group so by the end I still had energy to run back to campus at t-pace. We also did a run on a trail near my school, we ran it at a good pace and it was fun. We also did strength training and swam so by the end of the day I was tired.

We ran a 5K which I pushed kind of hard but my legs were tired so I wasn't really racing it. Amazingly I still got a really good time and I wasn't hurting to bad after. We rested most of the day but went on another short run in the evening up the canyon.

We ran 1.5 around campus right as we woke up which felt good but my legs were stiff. Later we ran down to the track where we learned how to run steeple chase. I wasn't very good at it and fell at least once but it was fun. My time for the 1,500 steeple chase was around 6:40.
